Official Monday June 9th 1846. I have just received a note from Mr. Leslie the Gentleman referred to in my letter of the 20 Ultimo the following is a copy of Mr Leslie's note.

"I have to request that you will bring this under His Excellency's notice. I shall lose no time in informing Mr Leslie that so far as Sir John Bowring is concerned Mr. Auster's Statement has been denied by His Excellency. May I be permitted to act if the private Correspondence referred to by Mr. Auster in the Correspondence sent me on Saturday last relates to any other correspondence than that with which I have already been favoured. If it does I shall feel obliged by being allowed to take a copy of such other Correspondence.
